Telecom shares fall

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, HFCL Ltd (down 6.73%), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd (down 4.98%),Railtel Corporation of India Ltd (down 3.36%),GTPL Hathway Ltd (down 3.23%),Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.03%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were OnMobile Global Ltd (down 2.78%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 2.54%), ITI Ltd (down 2.04%), Indus Towers Ltd (down 2.01%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 1.76%).

On the other hand, Route Mobile Ltd (up 1.15%), moved up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 249.15 or 0.44% at 56811.72.

The Nifty 50 index was down 93.05 points or 0.54% at 17009.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 281.39 points or 0.98% at 28330.53.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 63.23 points or 0.74% at 8529.23.

On BSE,1123 shares were trading in green, 2271 were trading in red and 173 were unchanged.
