Asian indices trade in green with Hang Seng up by 1.6%

The Nikkei 225 rose 0.65%, the Topix index added 0.39% and South Korea’s Kospi gained 1.03%.

Asian markets were trading in the positive zone on Thursday following positive news overnight around the development of a potential coronavirus vaccine.

The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong led gains among the region’s major markets, rising 1. 6%. The Nikkei 225 rose 0.65%, the Topix index added 0.39% and South Korea’s Kospi gained 1.03%.

Mainland Chinese stocks also saw gains, with the Shanghai Composite rose around 0.83% and the Shenzhen Component added 0.231%.

According to data from Johns Hopkins University, globally, more than 10 million people have been infected by the coronavirus and at least 511,000 lives have been taken, as per media reports.

Meanwhile, US indices closed mixed on Wednesday as Dow Jones lost 60 points while Nasdaq soared to fresh new all-time highs. Technology stocks continue to see earnings upgrade as new normal see Amazon, Netflix & Google lead the winners.
