‘Ministerial Conclave’ by Zee Business

The ‘Ministerial Conclave’ was attended by business champions including members of various business organizations i.e. FICCI, ASSOCHAM, CII along with other trade / industrial bodies and has the unique opportunity of interacting with the Cabinet Ministers.

 The ministers participated in the conclave included Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Rural Development; Shri. Kalraj Mishra, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises; Shri. Thawar Chand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and Shri. Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy.

During the course of the interaction, Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Rural Development stressed on the overall development of roadways in the country. He said, “To my mind Indian roadway system needs to be enhanced and my department is working for the overall development.  We are working to set up concrete roadways. And hence we need participation of the cement industry.  The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is working relentlessly for the same, we are working in close proximity with various state governments and we can assure you that the land acquisitions will be smooth. We are also going to make ‘Transport Nagar’ outside the metros so that trucks can be parked. Going with our topmost priority of alternate and renewable energy, we are in the process of making ethanol and have tie – up with a Swiss company. We plan to run vehicles with ethanol and hence air pollution can be controlled.”

Stressing more on the futuristic plans of his department Shri. Gadkari highlighted, “We have approved running of sea planes in our country, and soon one could experience the same from Mumbai. We are planning to introduce Water Ports Authority on the lines of current Airports Authority of India. To attract tourist and also investors we have approved a 7 star hotel in Mumbai. To boost the shipping industry we will be asking global tender to make shipping industry a viable industry of the country”


Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent charge) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy also highlighted various development activities undertaken by his department, he attributed that, “As lot of coal is shipped out, we plan to undertake a third party evaluation of the coal that is to be transported to various sectors so as to provide the best available to the concerned industry. We believe in absolute transparency hence, the third party evaluation is a step further to that commitment. We have identified four new coal blocks and three railway lines will be connected to it.”

Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, said, “We are working for the development and rehabilitation of the transgender, and we will be working in tandem with them. We have undertaken extra care of the students belonging to the Dalit community, and we will be helping them to get loans so that they can study abroad. They can repay the loan post getting a job.”

Kalraj Mishra, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, said, “We are working for single window clearances for MSME enterprises. We are considering a proposal wherein, small budding entrepureaners will have to submit a single form for all the approvals, which can be worked out through inter- ministerial coordination.”
