A few site workers were injured in the mishap around 1 pm on Tuesday while conducting inspection work, and they were promptly transferred to the plant’s occupational health centre.

Tuesday’s steam leak at the Tata Steel Meramandali blast furnace power plant in Dhenkanal, Odisha, is thought to have harmed at least 19 people. The injured were sent urgently to a hospital close by.

A few site employees were injured in the accident, which happened at 1 o’clock on Tuesday during the inspection work. As a precaution, they were transported in the company’s ambulance, along with a doctor and paramedics, first to the Occupational Health Centre inside the plant and then to Cuttack for additional treatment.

All emergency procedure services were immediately alerted following the collision, and the area has since been blocked off. The company stated that it is providing the families of the impacted employees with all essential information and support.

Tata Steel released a statement saying, ‘We are closely collaborating with the appropriate local authorities and have launched an internal investigation to determine the cause of the accident.’
