Torrent Gas slashes CNG price by Rs6 from Rs68.90/kg to Rs62.90/kg

With effect from 1st April 2022, on reduction of VAT on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by Government of Maharashtra from 13.5% to 3%, Torrent Gas, Pune has revised CNG Price from Rs68.90/kg to Rs62.90/kg in Pune District (other than the areas already authorized).

This initiative of the Government of Maharashtra comes as a great relief for private vehicle owners and public & private transporters including buses, taxis and autorickshaws.

Yesterday, the government has more than doubled the price of natural gas that is used to produce electricity, make fertilisers, turned into CNG, and piped to household kitchens for cooking, on the back of a spike in global energy prices.

According to the oil ministry’s Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), the price of gas produced from old, regulated fields, such as the nation’s largest gas field of Bassein of ONGC, will rise to a record high of $6.10 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) from the current $2.90 per mmBtu.
