FIIs invest Rs. 180bn in May so far

Despite macroeconomic concerns, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have invested more than Rs. 180 billion into the Indian equity market so far this month, SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) data indicated.

With this, the total foreign investment in India’s equity market has touched to Rs. 795.54 billion since the beginning of the year.

FIIs were gross buyers of shares worth Rs. 567.67 billion during May 2-24, while they offloaded equities worth Rs. 382.5 billion, resulting in a net inflow of Rs. 185.18 billion, the data further said.

FIIs have also invested Rs. 92.55 billion into the debt market during the month taking the total investment to Rs. 273.34 billion (about $5 billion) in the segment so far this year.
