According to two industry executives familiar with the matter, Apple is set to open its much-awaited flagship retail store in Mumbai next month, following multiple delays. Subsequently, the tech giant plans to launch a second store owned by the company in New Delhi.
According to industry executives, the upcoming Mumbai store will be a significant retail destination spanning 22,000 square feet in Reliance Industries' premium Jio World Drive mall, akin to Apple's iconic outlets in Los Angeles, Beijing, New York, Milan, and Singapore.
According to one of the industry executives, the second company-owned store in New Delhi, located in the Select Citywalk mall in Saket, will cover an area of 10,000 square feet and is also scheduled to open between April and June, possibly shortly after the Mumbai store launch.
both Apple stores in Delhi and Mumbai have completed their fit-outs, with Delhi finishing first. However, despite Delhi being ready, the Mumbai store will open first as it will be the flagship Apple Store in India, stated the sources.
Apple will determine the opening date of its flagship store based on the schedules of its global executives. It is anticipated that Deirdre O'Brien, the senior vice-president of retail and people, will attend the launch, but it has not been confirmed if CEO Tim Cook will also be present, according to industry executives.
