Medical Value Tourism is now a $600 billion industry: Prathap C. Reddy

In his address to the Annual General Meeting of the company, Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, said that healthcare will become more preventive in nature. Apollo's ProHealth program uses Artificial Intelligence technology to give predictive risk scores to individuals for various diseases. This can result in better preventive healthcare for the individual.

He added that healthcare is going to become more Digital + Physical. Apollo 24/7 is already providing online healthcare services to around 20 million patients per month. Apollo will also be opening more physical hospitals and clinics over the next five years.  Healthcare will also become more hi-tech. The prevalence of Robotic surgery will increase. Apollo has a competitive advantage in the area of Robotic surgery because of Apollo Institute of Robotic Surgery.

He called for Apollo to bring its healthcare services to more Indians by leveraging its network effect. India should also avail of the medical tourism opportunities, which is now a $600 billion industry, he added. Apollo will also be investing $200 million in creating 4-5 more proton centres in the country.
