Zee Media reports loss of Rs9.06cr in Q1FY22; Stock slumps 4.5%

Operating revenue increased by 28.8% yoy to Rs170.18cr in Q1FY22.

Zee Media Corporation Limited reported a Loss at Rs9.06cr for the first quarter of FY22 compared to profit after tax (PAT) of Rs12.26cr in the same quarter last fiscal, a decrease of 173.9% yoy. PBT declined 16.3% to Rs13.7cr compared to Rs16.37cr in Q1FY21.

Operating revenue increased by 28.8% yoy to Rs170.18cr in Q1FY22 from Rs132.14cr in Q1FY21. Operating Expenditure increased by 36.9% yoy to Rs124.86cr mn in Q1FY22 from Rs91.22cr in Q1FY21. EBITDA increased by 10.8% to Rs45.32cr in Q1FY22 from Rs40.92cr in Q1FY21.

At around 11.43 am, Zee Media was trading at Rs12.80 per piece down by Rs0.61 or 4.55% from its previous closing of Rs13.41 per piece on the BSE.

“The 14 news channels of ZMCL comprising 1 Global, 3 National and 10 Regional/language channels together continued to be one of the largest TV news networks in the country,” company said in a filing.

“Our Digital News portfolio continues to witness rapid growth across the properties. The language news properties spanning 16 brands in 12 languages received 1.9 billion views in Q1FY22 compared to 1.6 billion views in Q4FY21. Monthly Average Users (MAUs) grew from 107.7 million in Q4FY21 to 141.9 million in Q1FY22.

Wionews.com, our Global English news platform, grow 74% to 65.4 million-page views compared to 37.6 million-page views in same quarter previous year. MAUs also grew from 3.2 million in Q4FY21 to 5.4 million in Q1FY22,” company said.
