Agri Buzz: Wholesale Food Price Inflation Rises Further Above 8%

Wholesale inflation (WPI) in India spiked to a record high of 15.08% in the month of April, up from 14.55 per cent in March, primarily due to higher fuel and energy costs. WPI in April 2021 was at 10.74 per cent. The wholesale inflation has been in double-digit territory for the 13 straight month now. The month over month change in WPI index for the month of April stood at 2.08 per cent as compared to March. During the same period, food articles inflation was recorded at 8.35 per cent, up from 8.06 per cent in March. The fuel and power basket inflation also spiked to 38.66 per cent from 34.52 per cent the month before.Powered by Commodity Insights
