Foreign Investors, till date in November, are net buyers Rs 31,630 crore in Indian equity markets

28 Nov 2022 , 10:41 AM

With hopes of an end to the aggressive rate hikes , foreign portfolio investors are rediscovering their love for Indian equities, making a net investment of Rs 31,630 crore in November. Experts predict that Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) won’t continue to be significant sellers after remaining net sellers in August and September.
FPI inflows are also being fueled by rising forecasts of aggressive rate hike cycles ending on somewhat lowering inflationary curves, better than anticipated US macroeconomic data, and the resilience of the Indian economy relative to other global economies.

Data from the depositories show that between November 1 and 25, FPIs made a net investment of Rs. 31,630 crore in stocks. In contrast, there was a net outflow in October of Rs 8 crore and in September of Rs 7,624 crore. FPIs bought stocks worth almost Rs 5,000 crore in July and 51,200 crore in August, making them net purchasers. Before this upward trend, commencing in October 2021 and accompanied by a steady increase in the dollar, FPIs remained net sellers for nine consecutive months.
