National Aluminium Company's (NALCO) results for Q2FY19 were in-line with etimates despite firm alumina realisations due to weak performance in the aluminium segment. Revenues for Q2FY19 rose by 23.9% yoy to Rs3,041cr (expectation Rs3,004cr). EBITDA stood at Rs850cr (expectation 842cr), up by 153.5% yoy. EBIDTA margin rose by 1,430bps yoy to 28%. Adjusted Net Profit stood at Rs510cr for Q2FY19 (expectation Rs501cr), up 117.4% yoy.
  • Segmental revenue for the quarter stood at Rs1,745cr for the aluminium segment (up 6.5% yoy) and Rs1,899cr for the chemicals segment (up 51% yoy).
  • Segmental EBIT for the quarter stood at a loss of Rs246cr for the aluminium segment (against a loss of Rs49cr in Q2FY18) and a profit of Rs996cr for the chemicals segment (up 231.8% yoy).
  • Gross margin moved higher by 648bps yoy supported by the sharp rise in alumina realisations.

National Aluminium Company Ltd ended at Rs. 69.45, down by 0.9 points or 1.28% from its previous closing of Rs. 70.35 on the BSE.
The scrip opened at Rs. 70.75 and touched a high and low of Rs. 70.75 and Rs. 68.70 respectively. A total of 57,70,628 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The stock traded below its 200 DMA.
