IFIM introduces New - Age Business Management Curriculum

The unique 4.5 month Industry Internship Program (IIP), an IFIM innovation in Business Management, will continue to be a part of the curriculum in the final term.

Institute of Finance and International Management, ranked the No. 1 Private Business School in Bangalore for two consecutive years* and most recently awarded B-school of the Year by Bangalore Management Association(BMA), has introduced a new curriculum for its 2013 -15 batch of students perusing the 2-year full-time programs - PGDM, PGDM (Finance) and PGDM (International Business). 


The New - Age Business Management Curriculum has been developed in collaboration with experts from the corporate world, academia and alumni, and reflects the changing needs of business and society.


IFIM's orientation programme was graced by  Paresh Chaudhry, CEO - Madison Public Relations and Guests of Honour,  Praveen Kesava, CEO - Panchantra and Dr. R.S. Nirjar, Executive Chairman, Board of Governors, IFIM B School.


Sanjay Padode, on the occasion unveiled the New-Age Business Management Curriculum for 2013-15 batch. Aligned with its vision of ‘Nurturing Holistic, Socially Responsible and Continuously Employable Professionals’ the new curriculum reflects IFIM’s philosophy of revisiting Management Education on a continuous basis, to meet the changing needs of business and society.


Speaking on the occasion,  Sanjay Padode, Secretary, IFIM Business School, said, " In a rapidly changing global economy every individual and organization has had to reinvent themselves.  In such a scenario, business schools are also faced with questions about their approaches to educating future managers. Our new curriculum for the PGDM program is adapted to suit the changing environment."

In such a scenario, budding brand managers need to align their knowledge base and skill sets to equip themselves to relentlessly pursue excellence in all aspects of business management."


Some of the highlights of the new curriculum include:

  • Course design and pedagogy that focuses on imparting relevant Knowledge (Knowing), Skills (Doing) and Attitude (Feeling) with ‘Assurance of Learning’.


  • Mandatory ‘Foundation Courses’ that carry credits, to bring students from diverse academic background up-to-speed to cope with the main curriculum.


  • A ‘Personality Enhancement Program’ (PEP), integrated across all the terms, that covers Life-skills, Lifestyle and Wellness to enable holistic development.


  • Renewed focus on ‘Ethics, Governance and CSR’ across the curriculum.


  • The ‘V.B Padode Centre for Sustainability’ set up in partnership with INFOSYS, to provide students a forum for participating in CSR and social entrepreneurship projects.


  • ‘Business Analytics’ has been made a core course for all students, with hands-on work in the ‘Business Analytics Lab’, set up in partnership with IBM.


  • A BSE-NSE supported ‘Finance Lab’ has also been upgraded for the Finance stream.


  • An elective course on ‘Entrepreneurship’ is being offered with the opportunity for           new-venture incubation under IFIM’s ‘Centre for Entrepreneurship’.


  • A new specialization in ‘Strategy’, in addition to the others regular ones, has been included to groom students interested in the consulting space.


  • A menu of new, industry relevant electives have been introduced with innovative pedagogy, such as Global Brand Strategy, Online & Digital Marketing, HR Analytics, Leadership & Change Management, Financial Modeling and Business Tactics.


  • For students of ‘International Business’ a ‘mandatory term-abroad’ has been introduced with our partner, AACSB accredited B-Schools, in Europe and the US, to provide global exposure and cross-cultural experience.
