Nifty FMCG maintains winning streak, index soars 290 pts; Heavyweight HUL top gainer

Nifty FMCG index has outperformed the benchmark Nifty 50. Investors focus has now shifted to March 2021 quarterly result.

FMCG stocks traded broadly on a bullish note despite markets volatility on Friday's session. Heavyweight stocks such as HUL, Marico and Dabur drive the sectoral indices. Nifty FMCG index has outperformed the benchmark Nifty 50. Investors focus has now shifted to March 2021 quarterly result.

At around 1.40, Nifty FMCG was trading at 35,274.65 higher by 291.60 points or 0.83%. The index has touched an intraday high and low of 35,442.85 and 34,999.40 respectively.

Hindustan Unilever was the top gainer soaring by nearly 3% followed by Marico and Dabur surging by more than 1% each.

Colgate and Procter & Gamble Hygiene soared by 0.9% and 0.6% respectively.

Stocks like Jubilant Foodworks, Tata Consumer, ITC and Godrej Consumer recorded marginal gains.

On the contrary, UBL was the top underperformer tumbling by nearly 3% followed by Mcdowell and Varun Beverages plunging more than 1% each. Emami dipped by 0.6%.

Britannia and Nestle slipped marginally.

Nestle is set to announce its Q4 result on April 20, 2021.
