Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries second biggest brand after Apple

RIL is the new entrant in the index under oil & gas sector.

Reliance Industries (RIL) is ranked as the second biggest brand in the world, as per the latest Future Brand Index 2020 data. The Mukesh Ambani-backed company follows Apple who takes the first position in the index. Notably, RIL is the new entrant in the index under oil & gas sector.

The index in its note said, "As far as oil & gas are concerned, this sector has various reasons to be cheerful, not least Royal Dutch Shell. It takes the number one slot when it comes to companies that have risen most significantly since 2018 (up a staggering 59 places) while Reliance Industries is a new entrant to the top 100 at number two".

Further, the index said, "Reliance Industries excels on every attribute. One of the most profitable companies in India, Reliance is, according to respondents, “very well respected” and “seen as behaving ethically” as well as being associated with “growth”, “innovative products” and “great customer service”. In particular, people have a strong emotional connection with the organisation".

Top 10 brands in the index apart from Apple and RIL are - Samsung, Nvidia,  Moutai, Nike, Microsoft, ASML, Paypal, and Netflix.

On Sensex, RIL stock ended at Rs2134.55 per piece up 0.37% on Thursday.
