Insurers are trying to understand how to tackle the issue as there is no regulation on preventing a policyholder from making a false claim

Health insurers are concerned about massive cases of fake claims as it impacts their profits.

It is estimated that health insurance portfolio has crossed Rs. 500-billion mark in 2012-13. However, the official data is not yet released.

According to insurers, 25% of claims are turning out to be fake. Insurers are trying to understand how to tackle the issue as there is no regulation on preventing a policyholder from making a false claim.
