Asian markets dip as slow down in China's factory activity growth worries

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dipped 0.1% while the Topix index declined 0.27% and South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.15%.

Asian markets were trading mostly lower on Tuesday morning trade as Chinese factory activity growth dipped in August.

On the economy front, China’s factory activity grew at a slower pace in August as compared with the previous month. The official manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index for August came in at 50.1 as against July’s reading of 50.4, data released Tuesday showed.

The Shanghai Composite fell 0.28% while the Shenzhen Component shed 0.23%, Hong Kong’s broader Hang Seng index dropped 0.5%.

In Japan, the Nikkei 225 dipped 0.1% while the Topix index declined 0.27% and South Korea’s Kospi fell 0.15%.

Elsewhere, the S&P/ASX 200 in Australia edged 0.17% higher.

Overnight, the S&P 500 edged 0.43% higher to 4,528.79 while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 0.9% to 15,265.89. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lagged, dipping 55.96 points to 35,399.84.
