European stocks fall amid cautious trading ahead of key events

The STOXX 600 index was down 0.3% amid cautious trading ahead of UK general elections as well as the FOMC meet in the US and the central bank meeting in the euro zone this week.

European shares fell for the second straight day on Tuesday after investors sought clarity on global political and economic events. The most important imminent event is the Dec-15 tariff deadline that might worsen the US-China trade war.

The STOXX 600 index was down 0.3% amid cautious trading ahead of UK general elections as well as the FOMC meet in the US and the central bank meeting in the euro zone this week.

Germany's DAX fell the most (-1.15%) among regional peers. London's FTSE 100 is down 1.03% and France's CAC 40 is trading lower by 0.84%.

Meanwhile, Asian markets ended mixed with the Shanghai Composite gaining 0.10%, the Hang Seng falling 0.22%, and the Nikkei 225 down 0.09%.
