FDDI Pre-Placement: Offers witnessing an upward trend

A total of 911 students have to be placed across Pan-India from FDDI campuses located at Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara & Jodhpur.

Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) for students of the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) have started pouring in much ahead of the schedule.

PPOs are made by companies to candidates who intern with them for around two months during the summers. Early offers indicate employers want to retain the talented students of FDDI ahead of their final placements in January 2014.

A total of 911 students have to be placed across Pan-India from FDDI campuses located at Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Chhindwara & Jodhpur.

The Institute is witnessing overwhelming response from companies offering excellent packages, profiles and willing to retain the students who underwent for their internship in the top-notch companies.

The exclusivity of FDDI's programmes lies in rendering contemporary pedagogy, training and research and is well co-opted with the specialized requirements of the Indian industry emphasizing special skill and knowledge enhancement.

Divulging the details, Mr. Raajeev j Lakhara, Managing Director, FDDI said, “Though it's early to talk about the numbers pertaining to PPOs, so far, they have been made by coveted brands which hold great repute in the market.”

The participating companies included Jumbo Electronics which selected 5 students, Vishal Wholesale also selected 5 students, Tommy Hilfiger has selected 8 students, Yishion has selected 4 students, Impactiva has selected 5 students and 7 more students have been selected in other companies. Reliance Luxury Brands has shortlisted 11 students where as the result of Globus is still awaited.

The highest package of 3.5 Lakhs besides incentives has been offered by Jumbo Electronics whereas 3 Lakhs besides sales incentives has been offered by Reliance brands to the undergraduates at the fresher's level.

There was a collective drive for North India campuses of FDDI which include Noida, Rohtak, Fursatganj and Jodhpur in the week from 21st – 25th October 2013. These companies will be going to Kolkata and Chennai and other campuses of the FDDI during the third & fourth of November 2013 for rest of the hiring.

“This year, early offers have given much more confidence to the batches of PG and UG courses in Footwear, Retail and Leather Goods & Accessories and we are optimistic of a successful placement season this time as well,” added Mr. Lakhara.

During the current week, Kolkata and Chhindwara campus of FDDI had a placement drive for Footwear and Leather Goods companies that included KH Shoes, Phegon Exports Leather Man fashion, Ajanta footwear, chemzen and IGT exports where 5 students got selected and 8 have been shortlisted.

Several other top recruiters have also made lucrative offers at FDDI campuses, but are yet to disclose the details. Keeping in view of the PPOs being offered to the students of various campuses of the FDDI, the scenario looks quite bright, yet, the Institute is cautious and will invite more companies as its batch size is larger this year.
