Liquor stocks in demand; United Spirits soars 6%

Prices of Indian made foreign liquor, beer, and country liquor may rise steeply from 1st April 2016 following a hike in excise duty, as per media reports.

Today, liquor stocks jumped on the BSE as Indian made foreign liquor, beer, and country liquor may see a steep rise in their prices from 1st April 2016 following a hike in excise duty.

United Spirits soared 6% to Rs.2405 on BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 2271 and touched a high and low of Rs. 2450 and Rs. 2271 respectively. A total of 407651(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 32952.12 crore.

Jagatjit Industries rallied 4.5% to Rs.62.95 on BSE. The scrip opened at Rs. 57.5 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 62.95 and Rs. 57.5 respectively. So far 1848(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 278.05 crore.

Chambal Brewery climbed 2.3% to Rs.9.33. The scrip opened at Rs. 9.54 and touched a high and low of Rs. 9.54 and Rs. 8.95 respectively. A total of 33712(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 6.83 crore.

United Breweries advanced 1.4% to Rs.812. The scrip opened at Rs. 827.8 and touched a high and low of Rs. 827.8 and Rs. 799.5 respectively. A total of 455190(NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 21170.51 crore.
