Markets near day’s low; Sensex falls over 360 pts, Nifty below 17,500

Domestic benchmark indices erased initial gains and in a choppy session today amid volatility during afternoon market session on Monday.

On the sectoral front, except Nifty IT, all the sectoral indices are trading in the red while Nifty Oil & Gas underperformed the most by slipping over 3.6%.

At around 2:00 PM, Sensex was trading at 58,962.05 lower by 368.85 points or 0.62%. Nifty 50 traded at 17,491.05 lower by 113.30 points or 0.64%

Top Gainers on Nifty are Bajaj Finance (+3.9%), Bajaj Finserv (+2.4%), NTPC (+2%) supported by Ultratech Cement (+1.5%) and Coal India (+1.3%). Meanwhile, top losers on Nifty are IndusInd Bank (-4.1%), JSW Steel (-3.4%), Power Grid (-3.3%), HUL (-2.9%) and L&T (-2.8%).

Furthermore, Tata Motor stocks in focus as the auto major said it will increase prices for all its passenger cars by 1.2% from February 1. The company cited rising input costs as the reason for the increase.
