Nifty FMCG stocks continue to outperform; Breweries stocks, ITC in the fast lane

Jubilant Foodworks remained under pressure. Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Nestle India were also trading in the red.

FMCG stocks continued to outperform. The Index rose again on Friday to cap of a beneficial week. Breweries stocks United Spirits and United Breweries led the gains. Heavyweights ITC, Marico and Hindustan Unilvever also out performed.

On the flipside, Jubilant Foodworks remained under pressure. Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Nestle India were also trading in the red.

After starting off on a tepid note, benchmark indices regained strength to trade higher. BSE Sensex was trading at 56,061.31 up 112.21 points or 0.20% and Nifty50 was trading at 16,686.75 up 49.85 points or 0.3%. 

The Nifty FMCG was trading at 38,829.10 up 158.40 points or 0.41%, touching a high of 38,884.55 and low of 38,549.15 during intraday trade on Friday.

United Spirits rose 2.55% at Rs701.85 per piece to emerge the lead gainer. United Breweries also followed with 2.1% gains at Rs1,465.95 per piece. 

ITC lifted spirits by surging nearly 0.9% at Rs206.35 per piece. Dabur, Emami and Marico were trading higher over 0.7%. HUL advanced 0.6% at Rs2,682.10 per piece. Godrej Consumer and Varun beverages also gained over 0.5%. Britannia and Colgate Plamolive also traded higher.

Jubilant Foodworks was 0.75% lower at Rs3,801.00 per piece to drag the most for the second straight day. Procter & Gamble Hygiene shed 0.66% at Rs13,500 per piece. Nestle India was 0.43% down at Rs19,967.00 per piece. Tata Consumer was trading flat.
