Equity benchmark indices erased early losses and are trading in the green during afternoon trade, with the Sensex up 82 points at 37,393. Nifty also added 25 points to trade at 11,054.
The rupee appreciated by 10 paise to around 71.70 against the US dollar in afternoon trade.
Yes Bank surged 5% on the NSE and was among the top Nifty50 gainers. UPL, GAIL, Grasim, and Power Grid were other top contributors to the index.
Shares of sugar stocks were trading mixed, with Piccadily Agro, Magadh Sugar & Energy, Piccadily Sugar, Allied Industries, Dhampure Specialty Sugars and Dhampur Sugar Mills were up, while Simbhaoli Sugars, Thiru Arooran Sugars and Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals were in the negative zone.
The Nifty Financial Services index was trading 0.36% up at 12,555 levels. Power Finance Corporation, HDFC Life, REC and Axis Bank were trading in the green.
Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, Tata Motors, JSPL, Ashok Leyland, SAIL, Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank and Dish TV India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Meanwhile, the London Stock Exchange has begun trading after a technical glitch on Friday.
