Odisha govt to take steps to provide bauxite to Vedanta refinary

The Odisha minister said Vedanta could be given prospecting license on small deposits of bauxite in Kalahandi and Rayagada districts

Steel and Mines minister RK Singh on Saturday said that rejection of the mining proposal on Niyamgiri hills was 'unfortunate' and alternate measures would be taken to source bauxite for Vedanta Resources' refinery, according to a media report.

The minister said the state government was taking measures to provide bauxite to Vedanta's 1 mtpa refinery at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district, the report said.

The minister said Vedanta could be given prospecting license on small deposits of bauxite in Kalahandi and Rayagada districts, the report added.
