SEBI to get powers to summon call data, email records

With these powers, SEBI aims to control the flow of black money coming into the market

Market regulator SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) will soon get powers to summon phone call records, emails and SMSes of persons it is investigating for market manipulations including insider trading, according to the media report.

With these powers, SEBI aims to control the flow of black money coming into the market, the report added.

Last month, the finance ministry wrote to the ministry of home affairs to designate SEBI as agency authorised to receive call data records (CDR).
