Top contributor to the Sensex gain is Infosys, Bharti Airtel, TCS, NTPC and HCL Tech.
The BSE Sensex is at 58,519.03 up 271.94 points or 0.47%, while the Nifty50 is at 17,464.80 up 84.80 points or 0.49%.
Nifty Bank is 36,676.35, up 0.17%. Mid-cap Index is up 1.30%. Out of 50 stocks traded on the BSE, 39 advanced and 11 declined.
NTPC, ONGC, Titan, Bharti Airtel, and Power Grid are the top gainers. BPCL, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Tata Consumer, and Cipla are the top losers.
Nifty PSU Bank, Media, Consumer Durables, and Oil & Gas stocks are also bullish. FMCG, Banking and Financial Services stocks trade marginally higher in an all green trade on Wednesday.
On the macro front, India’s exports rose by 45.76% to $33.28 billion in August, as against $22.83 billion in the same month last year, according to commerce ministry data released on Tuesday. Imports during the month increased by 51.72% to $47.09 billion, the data showed. Trade deficit in August widened to $13.81 billion as against $8.2 billion in the same month last year.
Asian stock markets slipped as Wall Street down on Wednesday after U.S. inflation was lower than expected amid unease about the impact of the spread of the coronavirus's delta variant. Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney all retreated, giving up the previous day's gains.
