Trading in corporate debt hits record high in Q1FY18

Trading in corporate debt securities at leading stock exchanges NSE and BSE has boosted 66.5% to a record Rs 4.34 lakh crore in Q1FY18, according to Securities Exchanges Board of India (SEBI).

Trading in corporate debt securities at leading stock exchanges NSE and BSE has boosted 66.5% to a record Rs 4.34 lakh crore in Q1FY18, according to Securities Exchanges Board of India (SEBI). A trading worth Rs 2.61 lakh crore in corporate bonds was witnessed on the bourses in first quarter of current financial year.
 
In Q1FY18, the NSE represented the largest share of trading in corporate bonds at over 70%. In the same period, bonds worth Rs 3.12 lakh crore were traded on the exchange as compared to Rs 2.10 lakh crore in Q1FY17.
 
The remainder of the bonds worth Rs 1.22 lakh crore were traded on the BSE in Q1FY18 which is more than double the amount recorded in the same period of previous fiscal year.
