The committee would submit its report in 24 months.”
The Green Tree Foundation, one of the pioneers in promoting environmental initiatives and technology, has launched India’s first eBook on Green Technology and Energy efficiencies on Tuesday in the presence of Sachin Ahir, the Minister of Housing, Govt of Maharashtra.
Ahir, while launching the eBook, said, “The government of Maharashtra is committed towards sustainable urban development. It is the first state in the country to form a committee to draw a roadmap for the sustainable development in the phases up to 2030, 2050 and 2070. The committee would submit its report in 24 months.”
The ‘Green eBook’ has been compiled following an exhaustive research on the subject involving architects, real estate developers, town planners and bureaucrats.
One of the key revelations of the book is a less known fact that most buildings including residential ones also contribute a third to green house emission and in turn are responsible for a large part for the ecological devastation.
The eBook also highlights issues pertaining to global warming, ecological imbalance and carbon emission. The research has unearthed a gap in the knowledge about Green Building Design and actual practice.
The Green Tree Foundation has been recently convened by Mr Ramesh Iyengar and Mrs Ameeta Iyengar, the brains behind LOCATOR, a unique award winning Product Finder, which has been offered free to the Building Industry since 1995.
According to Mr Ramesh Iyengar, the convenor of The Green Tree Foundation said, “Awareness is usually the most important agent of change in any circumstance and is always left for ‘someone else to do’, thus making it no one’s baby. However, when everyone has equal access to relevant information, it stops being a best kept secret and makes for a level playing field. This can help leverage the power of the collective.”
The Green Tree Foundation has an illustrious Advisory Board and members to give shape to the objectives of the organisation. They include, Ms. Valsa Nair Singh Secretary, Ministry of Environment Govt of Maharashtra, Dr Prem C Jain, Chairman of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Dr Milind Rane, of IIT Mumbai, architect Karan Grover from Baroda, a renowned building designer and recipient of the World’s 1st Platinum LEED Building Award – 2002, architect Christopher Charles Benninger from Pune, who recently was awarded for his work in Green Buildings for the Suzlon Corporate Headquarters.
The first initiative of the Foundation is the launch of India’s first eBook on Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency. The recipients totalling 1,00,000 will comprise of Architects, Developers, Bureaucrats, Consultants, Town Planners & Academia.
Mere, the first step of launching e-Book symbolises the Foundation’s vision and mission as it otherwise would have resulted in chopping 3000 trees had the book been published using paper.

We believe the interest rates are likely to have bottomed due to inflationary pressure, large government borrowings and normalizing credit growth. Hence rate sensitive sectors should be avoided in our view.
