As OMCs raise the cost of jet fuel by 14%, air travel prices are anticipated to increase

1 Sep 2023 , 01:20 PM

After the government announced a 14% increase in the price of jet fuel, also known as aviation turbine fuel (ATF), on September 1, air travel may become more expensive. The increase brings Delhi’s jet fuel prices to their highest level since December 2022, at Rs. 1.12 lakh per kilolitre.

Depending on state taxes, ATF costs vary from one state to another.

The increase occurs immediately before festival season, when air traffic is normally higher. ATF prices have increased by almost 24 percent over the last three months, which may have a substantial effect on airline operating expenses and raise tickets.

In Delhi, the cost of a kilolitre increased to Rs 1,12,419.33; in Kolkata, it rose to Rs 1,21,063.83; while in Mumbai, it fell to Rs 1,05,222.13.

The oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the price of jet fuel for the third month in a row. The price of ATF was sharply increased by 8.5 percent on August 1. In the nation’s capital of Delhi, the cost of jet fuel jumped by Rs 7,728.38 per kilolitre to Rs 98,508.26.

In the meantime, OMCs reduced the cost of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders by Rs 158 on September 1. According to the IndianOil website, the most recent price will be in place as of right now, and the 19 Kg commercial LPG gas cylinders will be sold for Rs 1,522.5 in Delhi.

It will now cost Rs 1,522.5 in Delhi, Rs 1,636 in Kolkata, Rs 1,504.5 in Mumbai, and Rs 1,695 in Chennai for a commercial LPG gas cylinder.
