Chambal Fertilizers Ltd reported consolidated sales for the Mar-21 quarter at Rs1,640.76cr. The company saw higher production and sales of urea and better efficiency. There was also an increase in sales of DAP, MOP and NPK. For the Mar-21 quarter.

Chambal Fertilizers reported 19.7% EBITDA margins compared to 12.3% EBITDA margins in Mar-20 quarter.

For FY21, the EBITDA margins stood at 19.8% compared to 16.8% in the Mar-20 quarter. The EBITDA growth came from growth in volumes and contribution from non-Urea fertilizers. In the case of Urea, the EBITDA improved due to operating efficiencies. For the full fiscal FY21, the cash profits were higher at Rs1,919cr compared to Rs1,425cr in the FY20 fiscal year.

In cost terms, the Mar-21 quarter saw a sharp fall in power & fuel expenses as well as freight and forwarding expenses. Over the last 5 years, the PAT of Chambal Fertilizers has grown at a CAGR of 31%. During the same period, the EBITDA has grown at CAGR of 29% while the total revenues have grown at a CAGR of 14%.

Over the last five years, the ROE of Chambal Fertilizers has moved up from 17.1% to 24.3%. During the same period, the ROCE or return on capital employed improved from 12.9% to 24.5%. The standalone debt equity is down from 2.6X in FY19 to 0.7X in FY21. The interest service coverage ratio has also improved from 3.6X to 8.1X on a yoy basis.
