Jubilant Foodworks Q1 turns around to net profit of Rs69.52cr on doubling of same store sales

Jubilant Foodworks reported 129.96% fall in total revenues for the Jun-21 quarter on consolidated basis at Rs893.19cr  as a spurt in same store sales and home delivery gave a boost to the top line numbers. On a sequential basis, the revenues were down -13.94% compared to Rs1,037.86cr revenues in the Mar-21 quarter.

In a tough quarter, Jubilant 29 new stores. Growth was driven by like-for-like (LFL) sales up 120% and same store sales (SSG) up 114% in the quarter. Its ordering app had 64 million downloads as of Jun-21.

The net profit for the Jun-21 quarter turned around to net profit of Rs69.52cr against net loss of Rs-73.9cr in the Jun-20 quarter. On a sequential basis, the COVID 2.0 resulted in net profits down by -34.05%.The YOY growth in profits was driven by the high ROI sales components of LFL sales and SSG sales.

The online delivery model more than compensated for the lower dine-in sales. Net margins at 7.78% in Jun-21 quarter were lower than 10.16% in the sequential Mar-21 quarter. Cost cuts undertake also helped Jubilant along the way.
