Hindustan Copper Ltd reported a sharp increase in its margins for Q2FY19. Revenue in the quarter fell 1.3% yoy to Rs469cr. EBITDA stood at Rs133cr, up 64.4% yoy. EBIDTA margin rose 1,130bps to 28.3%. Net profit stood at Rs35.3cr for Q2FY19, an increase of 23.4% yoy.
  • Employee costs fell 9% yoy to Rs79.7cr in Q2FY19.
  • Finance costs rose sharply to Rs10.9cr in Q2FY19 against Rs4.7cr in Q2FY18. This is due to the ongoing expansion in production.
  • Tax rate for H1FY19 stood at 35.2% against a tax rate of 34.6% in FY18.

Technical View:

Hindustan Copper Ltd ended at Rs52.10, up 0.4 points, or 0.77%, from its previous close of Rs51.70 on the BSE. The scrip opened at Rs52 and has touched a high and low of Rs52.80 and Rs51.70, respectively. A total of 7,18,017 (NSE+BSE) shares were traded on the counter. The stock is currently trading above its 200-DMA.
