SOS Children’s Villages of India spreads awareness

SOS Children’s Villages of India was accredited with CRISIL Rating of VO-2A indicating SOS’s“Strong Delivery Capability and High Financial Proficiency”.

SOS Children’s Villages (SOS), a globally active NGO working towards providing secure and loving homes for orphaned and abandoned children in India organized the 25thedition of Tara Ali Baig Memorial Lecture in Delhi . The event was part of its initiative to keep the contribution of former president of SOS India – Tara Ali Baig fresh in minds of people. Dr. Bharti Sharma, former chairperson CWC graced the occasion as chief guest while Dr. Rajalakshmi Sriram, Head Department of Human Development and Family Studies, M S University of Baroda was the keynote speaker.

The occasion marks the birth anniversary of Tara Ali Baig, a multifaceted personality with diverse interest, who was deeply committed to social issues and is remembered for the pivotal role she played at the policy and implementation level of the country's social agenda. The seminar aimed at highlighting the importance family for holistic growth of a child.

Rakesh Jinsi, Secretary General, SOS Children’s Villages of India said, “We all will always be grateful to Tara Ali Baig for all the contributions she made to SOS Children’s Villages of India and the lives of thousands of abandoned children.”

Dr. Bharati Sharma appealed to responsible citizens of the country to enrich psychological & social proficiency among children. Further highlighting the importance of enabling a child's overall development she said, "Family plays the role of a primary caregiver for wellbeing and guidance of the child. Individuals, families, communities and institutions are all duty bound to promote the resources leading to psychosocial development of a child. Government must continue to support and adopt socially responsible policies, keeping children specifically in mind.” While Dr. Rajalakshmi Sriram emphasized on the fact that parents or guardians should take all necessary steps at different levels of a child's growing period to ensure that the child is both socially & psychological mature enough to face the outside world.

The event, witnessed children from SOS Children’s Villages and other members of SOS family paying tribute to their Dadi, as Tara Ali Baig is fondly remembered.

Recently SOS Children’s Villages of India was accredited with CRISIL Rating of VO-2A indicating SOS’s“Strong Delivery Capability and High Financial Proficiency”. With this, SOS becomes the first NGO to undergo evaluation process especially designed for Voluntary Organisations’ by CRISIL.

CRISIL is a credible rating agency which provides an objective and independent third-party opinion. SOS has also been awarded an Accreditation Certificate for “Desirable norms”, the highest form of rating by Credibility Alliance for a period of five years from 29th May 2014 to 28th May 2019.
