Asia Pacific Institute of Management organized the International Summer School on Information & Communication Technology for democracyAsia Pacific Institute of Management organized the International Summer School on Information & Communication Technology (ICT) for Democracy. The programme had witnessed the participation from 40 young and senior researchers from 18 countries of the world.
The idea of the summer school is to discuss and delineate the greatest challenges, initiatives and strategies in the area of ICT for democratic development. The interactions among the young and senior researchers and practitioners were basically on promoting the development initiatives of ICT around the globe. The participants in the programme are from the diverse academic disciplines like Political Science, Informatics, Computer Science, Media & Communication Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Economics, Law and Anthropology.
The chief guest for the ceremony was Dr. Pankaj Jalote (Director – IIIT) and Ms. Anna Ferry (Counsellor for Trade and Economic Affairs, Embassy of Sweden, New Delhi) was the Guest of Honour. Shri A.K Shrivastav Chairman- Asia-Pacific Institute of Management along with the guests inaugurated the event and chaired the session.
The keynote speakers of the summer school attended the session were Dr. Biswajit Das, Centre for Culture Media and Governance, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi, India. . Dr. P. Vigneswara Ilavarasan, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, Dr. Osee Kamga, Professor, University of Sudbury, Canada, Dr. Ulrike Klinger, Institut für Publizistikwissenschaft und Medienforschung, Univesity of Zürich, Switzerland and many others from different countries like Germany, Sweden, Srilanka and Ethiopia.
