Equity MF folio numbers decline 2% to 24.3mn in September

Equity funds reported the maximum decline in folio numbers followed by gold exchange traded funds (ETF) in September

The total number of folios issued by asset management companies (AMCs) decreased slightly to 41.3 million in September from 41.5 million in August, according to SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) data.

In the same period, 44 AMCs' assets under management increased to Rs. 8.66 trillion from Rs. 7.66 trillion in August.

Equity funds reported the maximum decline in folio numbers followed by gold exchange traded funds (ETF) in September, the SEBI data added.

On account of huge volatility in the market, folio numbers of equity funds declined 2% to 24.3 million in September. Folio numbers of Gold ETF declined 1.13% to 5.39 lakh in September from 5.45 lakh in August.

On the other hand, folio number of balanced funds increased 9% to 27.43 lakh in September. Folio numbers of liquid funds rose 5.22% to 2.43 lakh.
