Management programmes are in for a makeover, and the LM Thapar School of Management (LMTSOM) has emerged as the trendsetter. Its state-of-the-art campus, coming up at Dera Bassi near Chandigarh with an investment of Rs 130 crore, will have 12 Wi-Fi enabled smart classrooms with digital podiums, video conferencing facility and IP camera for web streaming. Soon, all management programmes running at Thapar University, Patiala will move to the Dera Bassi campus.
Fully equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity (internet bandwidth of 45 Mbps) through a centrally managed access point, the new campus will offer concept classrooms which will enable students to access their assignments, library or study material at their own comfort and time, using the Learning Management System.
The students can catch up with the lecture delivered in the class on the local network. They can access assignments while in the library and submit them sitting at home through their official ID. Through this hi-tech model, they will get references of the study topics, lecture notes or case studies at their comfort through high-speed internet facility. LMTSOM will also provide access to bulletin boards, web kiosk accessibility via Android and iOS mobile apps.
Students at LMTSOM can pursue MBA offered in trimester mode with specialization in Operations, Information Systems, HR, Marketing and Finance. These programmes are designed exclusively for technical graduates. Students can apply on the basis of their CAT/MAT/CMAT score.
Every year school awards merit scholarships and merit-cum-means scholarships to deserving students.
Dr. KK Raina, director, Thapar University says, “The dedicated and competent faculty at LMTSOM ensures the highest standards of teaching. The learning and evaluation processes are based on industry feedback, a perfect blend of traditional and modern teaching techniques.”
Dr. Raina said that keeping in view the changing trends of the job market, students who join business management courses must be equipped for their new role from the outset. “The use of technology in business school will enhance the teaching and learning process and cater to the future needs of students who will be required to do things on the move while on the job. Keeping this in mind, we are making IT the backbone of LMTSOM,” he added.
The school at new campus will be headed by Dr Padmakumar Nair, clinical professor and academic director of the Leadership Centre at the University of Texas at Dallas, USA. Eminent professors from foreign universities, including University of Twente, The Netherlands; University of Paris-Dauphine, France; University of Texas, Dallas, USA, and Minori-MRI, Tokyo, Japan, will also be part of LMTSOM.
Besides the regular academic programmes, LMTSOM also plans Management Development Programmes (MDPs) in a big way to cater to the Training and Development needs of the Corporate Sector.
Hostels with all modern facilities for 200 girls and 200 boys are available on the campus.
The last date for receipt of application forms for the coming session is June 10.
