Professor Philippe Lorino to be awarded Distinguished Professor status by ESSEC Business School

Professor Philippe Lorino, a permanent Faculty member at ESSEC Business School in the Accounting and Management Control Department, will receive the title of Distinguished Professor. 

This distinguished title is awarded in recognition of the quality of research activity of a permanent professor who has contributed significantly to the excellence, expertise and reputation of ESSEC Business School both in France and internationally. 

As part of the award ceremony Professor Philippe Lorino will deliver a scholarly lecture (or “lectio magistralis”) on 20 November 2013 on ESSEC’s Cergy campus, in the presence of Mr. Jean-Michel Blanquer, Dean of ESSEC Business School, and Mr. Vincenzo Esposito Vinzi, Dean of the Faculty. The event will also be attended by representatives of the ESSEC Board of Trustees, ESSEC faculty members, administrative personnel, students and alumni. 

An Engineering graduate from the schools of École Nationale Supérieure des Mines and École Polytechnique Polytechnicien in Paris and a Doctor of Management Science, Professor Philippe Lorino is a leading expert in issues pertaining to process-based management, strategy deployment within management systems, performance management, strategic management of performance and competences, collective learning, and organizational risk control. He is regarded as one of the forerunners in the area of activity-based management theory within France.

Professor Lorino has also been involved with an impressive array of French and international companies, including EDF, Gaz de France, France Télécom, Renault, Arcelor, Hydro-Québec, Jet Services, Banque Caixa, SAT-Sagem, SNCF, and MMA, and is also a member of the permanent Group of Experts of the French National Authority for Nuclear Safety, responsible for delivering advice and recommendations on the issues of safety and radiation protection for nuclear installations and activities.
