FotoFlock.com by Epson, the portal dedicated to all things photography, and now one of the most frequented sites on the subject, announced the results of the 'Photo of the Year' contest, conceivably the biggest Indian photography contest ever!
The contest had 48 finalists, short listed from over 11,020 entries which had been gathered over a period of over 365 days. The contest provided an opportunity to be noticed and recognized by the country's professionals, semi-pros and amateurs alike, providing a rare stepping stone to move into the big league.
Ultimately Somenath Mukhopadhyay from West Bengal won the first place winning an Epson EH-DM2, All-in-One Home Theatre Projector and a personally autographed photo by Steve McCurry, the internationally renowned photographer of National Geographic fame. Abhijeet Kaulavkar from Maharashtra won the second place winning an Epson Stylus Photo R1900, A3+ Ultrachrome K3 Photo Printer and Mr. Rakesh Balaji from Bangalore won the third place winning an Epson Stylus Photo TX700W, Photo All-in-One. Epson also awarded four other contestants with consolation prizes of an Epson PictureMate PM 270, Personal Photo Printer respectively.
The winners were chosen by four celebrity photographer judges - Daboo Ratnani, Subi Samuel, Fawzan Husain and Vikram Bawa.
