FotoFlock.com by Epson, the portal dedicated to all things photography, and now one of the most frequented sites on the subject, announced the results of the 'Photo of the Year' contest, conceivably the biggest Indian photography contest ever!

The contest had 48 finalists, short listed from over 11,020 entries which had been gathered over a period of over 365 days. The contest provided an opportunity to be noticed and recognized by the country's professionals, semi-pros and amateurs alike, providing a rare stepping stone to move into the big league.

Ultimately Somenath Mukhopadhyay from West Bengal won the first place winning an Epson EH-DM2, All-in-One Home Theatre Projector and a personally autographed photo by Steve McCurry, the internationally renowned photographer of National Geographic fame.  Abhijeet Kaulavkar from Maharashtra won the second place winning an Epson Stylus Photo R1900, A3+ Ultrachrome K3 Photo Printer and Mr. Rakesh Balaji from Bangalore won the third place winning an Epson Stylus Photo TX700W, Photo All-in-One. Epson also awarded four other contestants with consolation prizes of an Epson PictureMate PM 270, Personal Photo Printer respectively.

The winners were chosen by four celebrity photographer judges - Daboo Ratnani, Subi Samuel, Fawzan Husain and Vikram Bawa.
account the votes of the members of Fotoflock who were invited to vote online for their favourite pictures.

Chosen after a yearlong process, during which 48 'Photos of the Month' were chosen and voted for by the community (popularly known as 'the flock'), the Photo of the Year contest is perhaps the most democratic of all photo contests. All members of this highly active community site, which total to almost three and a half thousand, had a chance to vote for their favourite photo, based on what stems from an appraisal that only hard-core photographers and amateurs can offer.

Fotoflock.com’s meteoric rise since the time it was launched, a little more than a year ago, makes it today the most frequented news and feature based photography community portal on the web, focussed on an Indian audience. Updated on a daily basis, with weekly reviews, articles and reviews, the site has some of the world’s (and India's) finest and most renowned photographers providing information, intellect and interviews on a regular basis.

With the latest product reviews, insightful articles on a variety of developments in the photography world, tips and tricks for those who seek them, a unique by and sell marketplace and an interactive forum that allows the community to share and discuss things, seeking and passing opinion as and when, and contests such as this, have made FotoFlock.com a bookmark in many a photographer's browser.
