Power Grid Corp signs loan agreement with ADB

Power Grid Corporation of India  announced that it has entered into a loan agreement with Asian Development Bank (ADB) for an amount of USD 500 million.
 The proceeded amounts will be utilised for funding of Green Energy Corridor, +/- 800 kV HVDC Bipole link between WR (Raigarh, Chhattisgarh) and SR (Pugalur, Tamil Nadu) and +/- 320 kV VSC based HVDC Link between Pugalur and North Trichur (Kerala). Read More

States take over debt of Rs 2.09 lakh crore in DISCOMs

Participating States of UDAY have taken over the targeted debt of Rs 2.09 lakh crore of their DISCOMs under borrowing exemption from the FRBM Act given in UDAY for the years 2015-16 and 2016-17, said a Power Ministry release. The process of States taking over the targeted debts and issuing them as SDL Bonds has now been completed. As of now, the participating DISCOMs have to issue Bonds worth approximately Rs 37,000 crore, which would be done in the due course. Read More

Power Grid’s board approves investment of Rs 1931 crore in three plants

Power Grid Corporation of India announced on Thursday that the company’s board of directors has approved the investment proposal for three plants with an estimated cost of Rs 1931.39 crore. The board has approved the investment for HVDC Biopole link between Western region (Raigarh, Chhattisgarh) and Southern Region (Pugalur, Tamil Nadu)-North Trichur (Kerala). Read More
