Asian markets trade flat; China’s industrial output in April rises

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s industrial output rose 3.9% yoy, however, its retail sales declined by 7.5% in April.

Asian markets were trading flat on Friday afternoon session with mainland Chinese stocks edged higher.

The Shanghai Composite up 0.18%, the Shenzhen Composite added 0.55%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index gained 0.4%, the Nikkei 225 advanced 0.2% and the Topix index rose 0.29%.

South Korea’s Kospi was flat and with the S&P/ASX 200 index was up in today’s session.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, China’s industrial output rose 3.9% yoy, however, its retail sales declined by 7.5% in April.

Overnight on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 377.37 points higher at 23,625.34 while the S&P 500 ended its trading day 1.15% higher at 2,852.50. The Nasdaq Composite closer 0.9% higher at 8,943.72.
