BSE Bharat 22 Index holds steady; State-run Bank of Baroda, ONGC, NLC India main drivers

The index has touched the day's high of 2,680.68.

While market indexes turned into negative territory in the late morning of Wednesday's trading session, however, BSE Bharat 22 index was the only index trading on a stable note. At around 10.36 am, BSE Bharat 22 Index 2,662.96 up 7.77 points or 0.29%. The index has touched the day's high of 2,680.68.

Bharat 22 index comprises of 22 stocks which are mostly Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE), Public Sector Banks and some of the strategic holding of Specified Undertaking of Unit Trust of India (SUUTI). The index diversified across six sectors.

The main drivers of the index are the state-owned companies stocks.

Top gainers here were - Bank of Baroda (+4%), followed by ONGC (+3.35%) and NLC India (+1.6%).

Other major stocks like Indian Bank, NHPC, GAIL and SBI advanced between 0.5-1%.

Also, in the gaining list were stocks like Coal India, PFC, SJVN, Power Grid, Axis Bank, REC and NTPC marginally up.

However, on the underperforming front, stocks were - NBCC (-3%), followed by Engineers India, NALCO, BPCL, L&T and BEL down between 0.5-1%. ITC and Indian Oil saw a marginal drop.
