China said its official manufacturing PMI came at 52 in March. PMI readings below 50 signify a contraction, while figures above that level indicate an expansion.
The pan-European Stoxx 600 rose 1.7% in the early trade as all sectors and major bourses entered positive territory.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization says there are now more than 782,000 global cases and at least 37,000 people have died. The US has the highest number of cases, at over 164,000, followed by Italy, Spain, China and Germany.
