On Wednesday, the Sensex opened almost unchanged at 27,955, and dipped to a low of 27,889 amid lacklustre trade in the morning session. The strong buying thereafter led the BSE index to a high of 28,298. The benchmark BSE Sensex finally ended the day with a gain of 303 points at 28,260, and in the process was up 801 points for the week.
The NSE Nifty soared to a high of 8,603, and eventually settled 95 points higher at 8,586.
The India VIX (Volatility) index declined by 5.7 per cent to 13.67.
The market will be shut for the remainder of the week on account of trading holidays for Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday.
