Weekly recap: Markets end the week marginally lower; Bank Nifty posts weekly loss of 8.26%

Indian markets remained range-bound during the week before ending marginally lower. The Nifty ended with a weekly loss of 1.74% whereas Bank Nifty has ended 8.26% lower.

Moody’s expects Indian economy to grow at sub-zero rate in Financial Year 2021 as lockdown has impacted the demand negatively.

Reserve Bank of India has reduced key lending rates from 4.4% to 4% as the Governor foresees a negative GDP growth in the current financial year.

According to a data by HIS Markit, US Business Activity has stabilised in May. The HIS Markit composite index for purchasing managers at manufacturing and services improved 9.4 points to 36.4.
