Nifty fell 144 points to 23,635, while Sensex declined 555 points to 75,577 as banking and insurance stocks came under pressure. Rising Brent crude above $100 a barrel and persistent Middle East tensions weighed on investor sentiment, while pharma, FMCG and energy stocks offered some support.
