Godrej associates with INK Live 2013 in a quest for innovative and brighter ideas

This will be the first of many innovator community engagements by Godrej

In continuation to create “Ideas that make life brighter, Godrej a 117 year old brand hosted a contest titled “Ideas that make life brighter” at INK Live 2013, an event around the INK conference in association with TED.  An engagement oriented platform for college students and young professionals, INK Live streamed the talks live at the conference along with simultaneous contests, projects and workshops with renowned artists, entrepreneurs, technologists, designers and scientists from across the world..  The event, organized at BTH Sarovaram in Kochi, witnessed about 400 attendees.
Talking about this association, Mr. Shireesh Joshi, Head, Strategic Marketing Group, Godrej Industries, expressed, “Creativity is a muscle which if fed with breadth of knowledge and exercised regularly keeps it fit and healthy. Our partnering with INK is one such exercise to keep our creative muscles healthy. Its also yet another opportunity to help build an understanding of what brand Godrej is and what it stands for - a constant endeavour to truly understand needs of an evolving world and leverage technology to deliver ideas that make life brighter".

Lakshmi Pratury - founder, host and curator of INK said, “INK has been working towards entrepreneurship, innovation and creatively engaging with the youth to turn their imagination into impact. We are pleased to have Godrej as our partner to continue with our commitment by recognizing young creative minds and encouraging them to bring about a meaningful social and economic change.”

For the contest, each delegate at INK Live and the 8 colleges across India in which the conference was streamed submitted an idea for Godrej. Themes for the idea shared were:
  • Innovative use of home & office space to solve problems of space availability
  • Security solutions for safer homes & cities
  • Smart appliances for a smarter me
  • An ‘ app ‘ that a consumer facing business should have
  • Green buildings of the future
The first prize winner received a cash prize of 15000 and the second prize winner received a cash prize of 10000. Cheques were handed over by by Shireesh Joshi , Head, Strategic Marketing Group, Godrej Industries.

Moving forward, Godrej wishes to endorse and sponsor innovative thinking amongst the youth. Godrej is confident that these engagements will offer a focused forum to talk about the innovations and ideas that exist within the company. In 2013, Godrej launched a large scale product campaign with Aamir Khan as its brand ambassador. The campaign featured 8 Godrej products , each of which has an idea that makes life brighter.
