Niti Aayog has been working on bringing out agriculture reforms to revamp state-run agriculture marketing and focus on dented segments of the sector, to prevent the farmer unrest in the country.

The think tank has urged the government to link a fraction of the financial grant provided to states under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) to agriculture reforms implemented by the states.

The think tank also released a warning that in case of no reforms in the sector, especially that of using the RKVY funds for agriculture reforms, the problems of the farmers are likely to continue.

The think tank has also suggested an introduction of provisions guaranteeing prices of at least half the key crops, setting up of unified national agriculture market, revamping land lease laws, along with the creation of a mechanism to facilitate convenient exit for farmers from the agriculture sector.
